New York Wedding Story #247

My heart beats so that I can hardly speak!!!

My sweet fiance had a very sweet way of proposing which caught me completely off guard. I mean, I had absolutely no clue it was coming. We had talked that whole past year about getting engaged and taking that next step, being we knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together and we had been together going on six years already. I knew from day one that he was the one, just when I looked at him, I knew my life would be changed forever. Well, I kind of knew that the ring was in the works because we had talked about it endlessly, gone shopping for it, etc, etc. I showed him the gorgeous gem quite literally seven months before I actually had it on my hand. So, as these seven months are passing, I am seeing no ring, and needless to say confused as to where it might be. I gave him a few places where I did not want to get proposed to, so when we were at these few select places I knew not to be expecting anything. I started thinking Maybe this is not going to be happening!! Maybe he's reconsidering me!!! I did not panic because I knew that couldn't be it. All I knew was that when it happened, I wanted to be alone with him and not surrounded by the headache of friends and family. So, one gorgeeus Spring day in May, we are strolling through the Conservatory Gardens of Central Park, and I am so aware of the beauty that surrounds us. Flowers, Fountains, even a wedding party taking pictures, a pleasant foreshadowing of what was to be!!! We are walking and I am going on and on about one thing or another. We stop at a fountain with nymph statues, and he takes a picture of me, and I throw in some coins for good luck. I am at complete peace with myself and him and everything around us. The cool breeze, the scent of flowers, the landscape, the droplets of the fountain in the air and on my face make me feel as if I am just fluttering there in the park. We reach a promontory, below which a couple are taking pictures with a photographer. I am facing the rail, watching them peacefully, and he is turned the other way, reaching into his pocket. I never saw him reach, but when I heard the click of the box, I felt these nervous butterflies in my abdomen. I didn't want to turn around because I knew that it would be real the moment I did so. I didn't need to worry-- He turned towards me with the ring between his thumb and index finger, and sweating nervously, asked me to marry him!!!! I couldn't believe this was real. This beautiful ring, this beautiful proposal, this perfect fiance!!! With tears in my eyes, I said "YES." We basked in our moment of joy hugging and being happy. Then I called my parents and shared the news.

Now, here's the answer to the Big Question: Why did he wait so long??
THE MAN WAS JUST TRYING TO FIND A PLACE!!!!!
Needless to say, he took me to a gorgeous French restaurant called Le Rivage to enjoy our Beautiful Day.
It was PERFECT. No friends. No family. No headache. Exactly what I wanted. Thank You, Baby!!!!!
